The City of Doerun Police Department provides police services to the citizens of Doerun. They are there 24 hours per day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The Doerun Police Department has been an established law enforcement agency for decades. It staffs exceptionally trained officers to provide a broad range of services to citizens and visitors to Doerun alike. Some of the services provided by our officers include answering a vast array of calls for service, patrol and observation of the entire city, enforcement of state criminal and traffic laws and local ordinances, collecting evidence, and testifying in court. An officer can be reached 24 hours per day by dialing (229)782-5441 or in the case of an emergency, dial 911.
The fire department at the City of Doerun is more of an administrative department, in that it interfaces with the Doerun Volunteer Firefighters who are part of the Colquitt County Volunteer Association of Firefighters.
Currently, fifteen departments throughout the county make up the association. Those departments provide fire protection to all of Colquitt County and it’s cities, with the exception of the City of Moultrie. The association also has mutual aid agreements with the City of Moultrie’s paid department along with the departments of all neighboring counties. With all these resources Doerun enjoys a class 5 fire insurance rating and the discounts associated with it.
There are five sub-departments that make up the city’s Utility Department; Electric, Gas, Sewer, Streets, and Water. Although there are currently only 6 employees covering all these services, they bring the required expertise to handle the city’s normal workload.
